  • Damp Problems

damp_tabRecent research has shown that 80% of houses in the United Kingdom have problems due to damp; a source of irritation and misery for both occupants and house owners.

    Excessive damp can be ca
used by a wide range of factors, and many of us think that the problems arising from this excessive damp are beyond our control.

  • Health Risk

mould_tabIn addition to the visible effects of excessive damp, it can pose a health risk for the inhabitants. These risks are often understimated.

Studies show that in the Netherlands more than 3 million people who are susceptible, suffer illnesses and disorder because of damp.

Chronic disorders of the respiratory organs and illnesses such as asthma, rhumatism or T.B. can be exaccerbated by a high relative humidity.
  • Schrijver Solution

schrijver_solutionThe Schrijver Systeem® is a humidity regulating system which consists of a stone element (and in the case of a cavity wall a tube is also used to channel the moisture).

The whole system is fixed in a specially prepared niche in the outside wall.

Through an opening in the element, dry air can flow into the system from the outside environment. Read more...

Results of the Schrijver Systeem Damp Control System
Everyday throughout the test period, each Schrijver Systeem® element removed 339 ml of water from wall A which was fitted with the Schrijver Systeem® a difference of almost 200ml per element per day which equates to more than double the volume of water removed from the wall than that of the wall without.

Table 1 below shows a clear difference between wall A, which had the Schrijver Systeem® installed and wall B, without. This is shown in the table in terms of relative humidity (RH).

Table 1

Graph 1

As you can see from graph 1 above and table 2 below, after 11 weeks and using only two elements, the Schrijver Systeem® had removed 30 liters more water from the wall it was installed into than that of the wall without.

graph 2

Table 2

Even without windy weather conditions, wall A with the Schrijver Systeem® removes substantially more water than wall B without the system. See table 3 below:

Table 3

As the Schrijver Systeem® works all year round and has a lifetime guarantee it will continue to remove damp from the exterior walls forever.
